What are Chinese Crested Dogs like? In one word – fantastic! If you become addicted to this breed, you become a Chinese Crested Addict. ![]()
Chinese Crested Dogs are a very sensitive breed. They are loving and loyal to their family and their master. They are not nasty or aggressive. They are shy at first in front of people they do not know. They are not the sort of breed that runs to anyone or would change their owner just for a piece of salami (well, even though…
) or jump with excitement at strangers. There are of course exceptions to the rule who are the exact opposite. Chinese Crested Dogs need time to take things in. They observe the reactions and emotions of their owner and react accordingly to strangers. If you do not like somebody or vice versa, your little Chinese will let them know on your behalf! ![]()
They need a lot of love and they hate being left alone in a different space to the one in which their pack – family is. They want to be at their master’s side and they love to have cuddles with them. They also love sleeping in the same bed with their master. The hairless variety especially likes to get under the duvet to warm their master and themselves. When the family leaves for work or school in the morning, Chinese Crested Dogs will snuggle in their little dog bed and wait for the family’s return.
They are very intelligent and can learn to communicate with a human wonderfully well. The facial expressions can be seen particularly well in the hairless variety. A hairless can frown and smile at you and pull all sorts of faces. If you learn to understand their expressions, you will become a great duo!
When it comes to physical activity, Chinese Crested Dogs can be both very active and lazy. If you go out to do sports, they will follow you and join in, if you lie down on the sofa watching TV, they will relax with you. Their playfulness makes them good around children. With their ability to learn they can take part in activities such as agility.
